This piece was developed after meeting with the seniors and giving them a questionnaire about their perceptions and beliefs about life nearing the end of the journey. From this, the most common elements were used to create the theme, i.e. Grandkids and nature. I cast the head and hands of one of the seniors at the center and one of his grand kids to give a more specific “ownership” to the piece. Humor was introduced by having the child looking up to try and find a bird that grandpa had pointed out in a bird book, not knowing that the bird had landed next to the book and was looking at it’s own picture.
